Meghan and Harry dismayed by race row as book naming has no upside

An alleged close source to the Sussexes has revealed the true feelings of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since new allegations have been accidently released about the royal race row in the new book.

Both King Charles and Kate were named as the people accused of discussing Prince Archieā€™s potential race in the Dutch version of Omid Scobie's new book, which has since been pulled. Now, an alleged source spoke to the Sunday Mirror and revealed all about the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes feelings at this new information, on which they have so far remained silent.

The couple apparently "never intended" for royals alleged to have made racist comments to be named publicly and says "it is incredibly unfortunate". The source goes on to say that the names were "not leaked to Scobie by anyone in her campā€, reports the Mirror.

It comes as the Royal Family stands united this week after King Charles and the Princess of Wales were dragged into a race row by a book on the monarchy.

Aides said it will be ā€œbusiness as usualā€ ā€“ with a glittering ceremony at Buckingham Palace and a charity carol concert at Westminster Abbey. It will be the first time the family will gather since Charles and Kate were last week named in a Dutch version of the book by controversial author Omid Scobie.

Sources said this weekā€™s events will show the royals at their very best, ā€œrising aboveā€ the tumultuous events of the past seven days. The King and Queen, alongside William and Kate, host an annual reception for 500 diplomats at the palace on Tuesday. And Kate and William, both 41, will have their annual carol concert at the Abbey on Friday (November 8) to thank all those who work with young children and families.

Tonight a source close to Harry, 39, and Meghan, 41, expressed dismay at the latest row, saying: ā€œThis is truly incredibly unfortunate…Thereā€™s no upside here for anyone.ā€ Another source close to Meghan insisted she ā€œnever intended them to be publicly identifiedā€ and it ā€œwas not leaked to Scobie by anyone in her campā€.

Last week Kate and Charles were named in the Dutch translation of Scobieā€™s book Endgame as the royals who allegedly discussed what colour skin Harry and Meghanā€™s first baby Archie would have when he was born. The Duchess of Sussex first told the story in 2021 without naming anybody during her TV chat with Oprah Winfrey. Meghan, whose mum Doria is Black, alleged a senior royal had raised ā€œconcernsā€ over how dark Archie, now four, would be in a private conversation with Harry.

The interview caused a massive storm ā€“ with some backing the couple and others saying it was a normal discussion in mixed raced families. The Oprah interview prompted an unprecedented statement from the late Queen, which included the now famous line: ā€œRecollections may vary.ā€
