Turkish MP Hasan Bitmez curses Israel before collapsing due to cardiac arrest

This is the moment a Turkish lawmaker collapses seconds after condeming Israel to the “wrath of Allah.”

Hasan Bitmez, 53, fell on the floor as he delivered a passionate speech at the General Assembly Hall in Ankara on Tuesday.

“We can perhaps hide from our conscience but not from history,” he said as he rounded out his speech, adding that “Israel will suffer the wrath of Allah.”

Shortly after, he was on the ground receiving chest compressions.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition, according to The Yeshiva World and other outlets.

Bitmez is the deputy head of the Felicity (Saadet) Party, an Islamist Turkish party.

He had been criticizing the Israeli government’s response in Gaza followin the October 7 attacks when he fell.

Turhan Çömez, another lawmaker and a trained doctor, was the first to rush to his aid, according to Turkish news outlet Gazete Duvar.

He is said to have hit his head while falling.

While some reports have speculated about a heart attack, Turkish Health Minister simply said that Bitmez had been “disturbed” during his speech and that he was monitoring his situation closely, according to a post on Twitter.

Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has been highly critical of Israel’s attacks on civilians in Gaza.

“Israel has carried out atrocities and massacres that will shame the whole of humanity,” Erdogan told a packed hall in Istanbul on Saturday. “All the values relating to humanity are being murdered in Gaza.

“In the face of such brutality, international institutions and human rights organizations are not taking any concrete steps to prevent such violations.”
