Ukraine destroys Russian air defence system

Russian soldiers heading to the frontline will now be taught how to “survive” war amidst reports Russia has continued to experience heavy losses in Ukraine.

A new report from US intelligence released this week estimated nearly 90 percent of personnel Moscow sent to fight since February 2022 was either killed or injured in action.

The casualties have now prompted the Russian Army to roll out a new course during training in the hope of equipping troops with the means to survive high-intensity operations.

According to Vladimir Putin-aligned paper Izvetia, the army will shift its focus on teaching new techniques “to help soldiers survive in difficult situations.”

The report said the updated teaching strategy will primarely apply on troops engaged in what Putin dubbed his “special military operation.

Plekhanov Russian University of Economics Prof Colonel Alexander Perendzhiev said the course would be developed based on interviews with soldiers who “endured all the hardships of frontline service.”

He said: “We had to find out what qualities the fighters on the frontline lack in modern warfare conditions.

“We are confronting Ukrainian forces whom NATO stands behind. The enemy is a very serious one and to defeat it, you need to take into account many nuances.

“Physical training is the basis that allows soldiers and officers to effectively carry out their combat missions and survive in difficult conditions,

According to a draft training document outlining details of the new programme, the course will help soldiers “develop tactical endurance” through strength exercises.
