Angry Aldi shopper goes on punching spree because of the length of the queue

A furious Aldi shopper reportedly went on a punching spree after becoming enraged at the length of the checkout queue.

Witnesses said the man “started kicking off” at a young woman on the tills at the Crayford store in Kent.

He then allegedly whacked a security guard who came to diffuse the situation.

Onlookers said the impatient shopper was furious because of how long he had to wait, despite queues in the budget supermarket being renowned for their rapid rate.

Maicah Williams, who saw the shocking incident, said: “By this point the whole shop had been brought to a standstill

“Several people attempted to block the man from the security guard and he then continued to threaten members of the public.

“Members of staff at this point had contacted the police.”

Frightened shoppers found themselves trapped in the store as the drama unfolded.

Maicah added: “Everyone was barricaded in the shop by this point as the exit and entrance doors had been locked to prevent the criminal from leaving.”

Things escalated as the man reportedly started hurling abuse around the store before punching a store manager, witnesses said.

His outburst was finally halted by a have-a-go hero who was cheered after performing a citizen’s arrest.

He held onto the alleged attacker before cops arrived, tackling the man to the ground and arresting him.

The alleged incident happened at peak time for the store – midday on Saturday – as dozens of stunned shoppers picked up their weekly shop.

Maicah added: “The hero shopper then sprinted to the assault and helped wrestle the man to the ground.

“He was then placed under citizen’s arrest until the police arrived and then arrested for common assault.”
