Cyclist killed in Lakewood after being hit by car that drifted into bike lane, according to police – The Denver Post

A cyclist was killed Sunday in Lakewood after she was hit by a car that drifted into her bike lane, according to a report from Lakewood police.

Police responded to the crash at about 10 a.m. at the intersection of West Alameda Parkway and South Indiana Street. According to their investigation, the cyclist was traveling eastbound in the bike lane along Alameda Parkway between McIntyre and Indiana streets when a man driving a compact sedan drifted into her lane and collided with her. The cyclist later died from her injuries at a hospital.

The man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. Vehicular homicide charges “will be presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office for this crash,” according to Lakewood police.

The identities of the parties involved have not been released.
