A brave dachshund managed to save its dog friend from certain death when it charged at a mountain lion that leaped over the garden fence.
In CCTV, recorded in Evergreen, Colorado, US, two small dogs are running around in the front driveway, sniffing at the ground and barking like they sense trouble.
They then run, yapping, at the gate, when a gigantic cougar launches itself over the wall and lunges at Mijo, an elderly Chiauhauau-cross, and picks him up in its jaws.
At this point, dachshund Winston charges at the mountain lion and is so fearsome that the big cat drops the dog and jumps back over the fence to escape.
The dogs' owner also runs over, screaming at the big cat, and picking up her poor injured dog.
Sadly Mijo had a seizure and lost an eye in the attack, on Saturday, November 7, and now is receiving veterinary care after immediately being rushed over for emergency treatment, 9News reports.
Lindsay Golden, Winston’s owner, told 9News he was a "20-pound dog with the courage of a 200-pound dog".

The footage has gone viral on Reddit, receiving more than 42,000 up-votes as people heaped praise on the small dog for his bravery on that night.
"Dachshunds were made to hunt badgers, they're not afraid of anything," wrote one viewer.
"And that was a f***ing large mountain lion," marvelled someone else.
A third wrote: "Thankfully, mountain lions are scaredy cats.
"If you make yourself big enough and make enough noise, they'll generally f*** right off unless they're starving or protecting cubs."
Some viewers said they thought the woman's attempt to rescue her dog was very risky.
One commented: "I don't really respect that she was willing to go toe to toe with a mountain lion for a dog.
"That's not a good trade-off."
