A 20-year-old woman is in a critical condition after she was allegedly shot by her own dad for marrying his business partner.
The young Turkish woman was blasted in the chest with a shotgun when she went to seek forgiveness from her dad for marrying without his permission, foreign media reports.
Kadriye Tengiz, 20, had fallen in love with local businessman Oytun Safa Tengiz, 30, but when they asked for her dad's blessing he refused it.
The couple ran away and married anyway, starting a happy life with their own organic farming business.
However, Kadriye missed her parents so the married couple decided to return to ask him for forgiveness.
Police say he invited her inside and into the garden, before demanding she divorce her husband of only three months.
When she refused he took a shotgun and blasted her in the chest and head, it is alleged.
He then reportedly went into the house, apparently attempting to kill his former business partner, but the 30-year-old man managed to escape and raise the alarm with police.
Dad Alphan Akcaoz, 52, living in the southwestern Turkish province of Denizli, has now been arrested. The legally owned shotgun which he had has also been seized.
The young woman, who was given first aid at the scene by the medical teams, was taken to the intensive care unit in the hospital where her condition is described as critical.
