The Denver District attorney filed criminal charges against a 22-year-old man who is accused of shooting two Aurora police officers in July in Green Valley Ranch.
The Aurora officers were working July 27 as part of the Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force SWAT unit when they were injured. They survived their injuries but were hospitalized in the shootout.
Dontai Hudson, who was injured by police in the shootout, is charged with three counts of first-degree criminal attempt to commit murder, five counts of first-degree assault and two counts of aggravated robbery, according to a district attorney’s news release. Hudson’s arrest affidavit is sealed and the DA’s office said no further information on the charges would be released.
After the shooting, Denver and Aurora police said the officers were shot while pursuing an armed robbery suspect. The suspect attempted to steal a vehicle before the shootout.
