EasyJet suffers losses of £1.27 billion amid new coronavirus lockdown

Low-cost carrier easyJet has reported pre-tax losses of £1.27 billion for the year to September 30, marking the first loss in the airline’s 25-year history.

Passenger numbers have halved over the course of the year, falling from 96.1 million to 48.1 million in total.

Between March and June, the airline grounded its entire fleet as the first set of coronavirus lockdowns were announced across Europe.
