Ex-model plunges 100ft to her death posing for photos while on trip with husband

A woman fell almost 100ft to her death after posing for photos near a cliff edge in Luxembourg.

Zoe Snoeks, from Limburg in Belgium, was with her husband taking photos of the Herou, a 1,400-metre-high rock face, near the village of Nadrin when she fell just before 9am on November 2.

The 33-year-old former fitness model had been visiting the country with her husband Joeri Janssen when she reportedly disappeared over the cliff edge.

According to the Mirror, she asked her husband to check on the dogs and he turned his back for less than five seconds and she was no longer there.

Joeri said: "I didn't see or hear anything. No rustling, no screams or shouts. I looked up and saw only dust.

"I called her, even though I knew it was hopeless. The chasm was several tens of metres deep."

Her husband tried to call for emergency services but there was no network signal where they were and when he did get through, they could not understand him despite Joeri speaking French.

Joeri travelled to the nearby Le Belvedere Hotel and asked staff to help contact emergency services.

The public prosecutor's office in Luxembourg Province said Zoe fell from the cliff edgel into the Ourthe River.

Emergency services attended the scene with scuba divers being sent into the river and a medical helicopter was also in attendance.

Her body was found later and police confirmed that his wife was dead.

Zoe and Joeri have been married since 2012 after the couple met at school.

They travelled to Luxembourg in a campervan, which they started driving across Europe in to take pictures with their dogs, Joy and Ivy.

Joeri said his wife had a passion for taking photos and found she had taken a last selfie just moments before she fell.

He said: "Zoe is looking straight ahead. You can also see the mist and the river where they finally found her body.

"The emergency services said Zoe fell at least 30 metres. I saw this place with my own eyes. I even think it was more like 50 metres (164 feet)."

A post has since been put up on Zoe's Facebook account detailing where people can go to pay tribute to her.
