French riot police flee in panic after hurling tear gas at protestors

Protests in France

Video footage captured the moment French riot police fled the scene in panic after they hit protestors with tear gas in Lyon. The group of officers are seen stepping back as they are hit with bats and bottles from the crowd taking part in the Lyon demonstration.  Pictures showed the aftermath of the clash as shop windows were smashed and defaced. The first of May marks international workers day in France where protestors traditionally take part in marches and demos but this year unions are calling for a “tsunami of protest”  against Emmanuel Macron’s pension reform.
