Golden retriever cries for help after falling into freezing lake before rescue

A heartbreaking video shows a golden retriever flail desperately in a freezing lake while police officers sprint to its aid in a race against time.

In the clip, circulated widely on Chinese video-sharing app Douyin, the poor dog is trapped in a lake surrounded by snow after apparently falling through the ice.

Two police officers are already at the scene trying to help the exhausted dog out of the water and another cop is running to help, with a bodyworn video showing him pant as he runs to the waterside.

Luckily, the police get there in time and the soaking dog is helped out of the lake and quickly recovers from the ordeal.

Shaking the cold water from its fur, the dog wags its tail in relief at being back on dry land.

But police take no chances with its health and put the animal into the back of a car so it can warm up as quickly as possible.

The dramatic rescue was recorded Bing He Park in Bole and uploaded on the police force's social media page before getting shared on Doyin.

Recent winter temperatures have been as low as -14C in Bole, which could have been a death sentence for the pooch if the police hadn’t managed to pull it out of the water.

A grateful dog lover praised the police on Douyin, commenting: "Thank you, guys.

"Our people feel safe because you are always there for us."

"They acted so fast," said a second impressed viewer, adding: "What a heart-warming moment."

Meanwhile, a golden retriever was filmed watching over a baby in the middle of the night, with his owner saying the nurturing side of his personality has come out since she first became pregnant.

In another cute moment, a golden retriever was recorded during his daily routine of walking the kids to the bus stop and waiting for them to get on board.
