Man mortified after neighbours leave note begging him to ‘have quieter sex’

A young man has been left feeling embarrassed and shamed by his neighbours who slipped him a note to complain about the level of noise coming from his house caused by love making.

Stephen Cunningham was left red faced when a note appeared under his door early one morning from a neighbour who asked him to be considerate over sound levels.

The 26-year-old was reminded that “sound travels” and that his passionate nights at home were keeping others awake.

Stephen said he was amused and mortified as he read the note – which he shared with the world via social media.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: “I woke up yesterday morning and it had been slipped under my door.

“I woke up at 8:30am so they must have come early to make sure I was asleep.

“I was rolling on the floor laughing while reading it, I was mortified.

"At first I thought it was about something to do with the close. My pals told me to buy my neighbours earplugs. I just don’t know which neighbour sent it and I don’t really want to know to be honest.”

The note itself read: “Dear neighbour. Just a friendly note from your neighbour to remind you the walls in these buildings are thin and sound can travel.

“While we appreciate that it is inevitable that we will hear neighbours at times, we want to make you aware that we can hear more than we should.

“I’m sure you will agree that we all must be considerate and respectful of our neighbours, we don’t want to be sharing your intimate and private moments with you.

“Therefore we politely ask if you could please keep the noise down at night. Please be mindful that you have neighbours in a building where sound travels.

“Thanks for understanding.”

While a second person said: “You have to pack up, midnight flit, leave the country, new identity. It’s the only way.”
