Meghan Markle will never return to the UK as she thinks winning over the public is a 'lost cause', according to an author of royal biographies.
The Duchess of Sussex has not visited Britain since quitting the Royal Family and moving to Montecito, California, in 2020.
This is despite her husband Prince Harry visiting his home country twice in the same period, including once for the unveiling of a statue of mum Princess Diana last year.
The couple's eight-month-old daughter Lilibet, who is eighth in line to the throne, has never visited the United Kingdom and was born in California.
Ahead of his new book on Meghan, royal biographer and investigative journalist Tom Bower has now claimed that she doesn't want to come back to London and "doesn't care" if she is welcome in the country.
He told The Sun: "At the moment, Meghan’s ultimate destination is unclear, but she certainly has the backing to make a bid to star as an American politician.
"In parallel, Britain is a lost cause for the Sussexes. In truth, I suspect Meghan no longer cares whether she is welcome in London.
"She has no intention of returning."
The author added that she enjoys a much better reputation in her home nation, and had great support there among Democrats, minorities and young people.
Last month, Harry was tipped by another royal expert to return home "solo" without Meghan Markle, his son Archie and baby daughter Lilibet, after being refused permission to fund his own police protection.
Neil Sean, a royal commentator, said that the Duke knows that "too much focus" will be put on Meghan and him "rather than the person it should be, which of course should be our glorious majesty the Queen".
It is yet to be announced whether the Duke of Sussex will return to the UK to celebrate his grandmother's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
