Meghan Markle and Prince Harry accuse Queen’s aides of offering ‘bad advice’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry criticised the Queen's advisors during the couple explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Sussexes accused Her Majesty's aides of offering "really bad" advice to the monarch during the televised chat with the chat show icon earlier this month.

During the two-hour tell-all special, Harry, 36, said: "When you're head of the Firm, there are people around you that give you advice.

"And what has also made me really sad is some of that advice has been really bad."

In a clip released after the main interview aired, Harry recalled an incident when he and Meghan had been invited to stay with the Queen on January 6 last year, but that the invitation was revoked the moment they landed in Britain, the Mirror reports.

Harry said his grandmother had personally invited them to Sandringham for a "chat, tea and dinner" and to stay overnight as they flew back from Canada for the first time.

But it's claimed the invitation was cancelled when they landed.

Harry and Meghan had been staying in Vancouver, where they celebrated Christmas, while the details of their departure were thrashed out.

The couple say the Queen had told them to head to Norfolk to see her the "moment they land", before the invitation was taken back.

"My grandmother had said 'the moment you land, come up to Sandringham, we'd love to have a chat, come for tea, why don't you stay for dinner because it's going to be a long drive and you're going to be exhausted?"'

He said "the moment we landed in the UK" he got a message from his private secretary at the time, passing on a message from the Queen's private secretary.

He said it was "basically saying 'please pass on to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that he cannot come to Norfolk. The Queen is busy, she's busy all week'."

Oprah said: "After she'd just invited to you?"

Harry replied: "She'd just invited me. 'The Queen is busy, she's busy all week, do not come up here'."

Harry added that when he called the Queen from Frogmore Cottage to ask her what had happened, she told him that she had something in her diary that she didn't know she had.
