Prince William was “affronted” by his brother’s claims in the Oprah Winfrey interview and does not feel “trapped” in the Royal Family, an expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex sensationally claimed that Wills and his dad Prince Charles “can’t leave” royal life during his chat with the US TV host.
Meghan also claimed that a senior royal had raised concerns about how dark Archie’s skin might be, among a series of other allegations.
The Duke of Cambridge became the first royal to publicly comment on the interview, insisting the royals were "very much not a racist family".
Royal expert Katie Nicholl believes William is ready to embrace increased responsibilities within the monarchy.
She told Entertainment Tonight: "We're hearing reports that Prince William felt quite affronted by the claims that Harry made in the interview, not only to the suggestion of racism within the Royal Family."
Ms Nicholl added: "We’ve also heard through friends of William who have spoken to the newspapers over here [in the UK] that he really rejects that suggestion from his brother that he feels 'trapped' by the firm, that he feels trapped by his future role.
"If you speak to the sources close to William, they say this is very much not the case.
"He's very willing to embrace his destiny as a future king, and he's very happy to step up to his responsibilities."
The Daily Star has approached a spokeswoman for the Duke of Cambridge for comment.
Harry spoke with William and Charles after the interview was broadcast, according to a friend of the couple.
US journalist Gayle King, who is also close with Oprah, told CBS This Morning that the talks were "unproductive".
However, William is reportedly "intent" on fixing their relationship.
A friend told the Sunday Times: "It’s still raw. He’s very upset by what’s happened, though absolutely intent that he and Harry’s relationship will heal in time."
Harry first alluded to the tension in 2019, telling ITV journalist Tom Bradby that the brothers were on "different paths".

He used the same expression when pressed on their relationship by Oprah.
Harry said: "As I’ve said before, I love William to bits. He’s my brother.
"We’ve been to hell together. But we’re on different paths."
He added: "The relationship is 'space' at the moment. And time heals all things, hopefully."
William’s wife Kate Middleton was also brought up during the broadcast.
Meghan responded to reports that she had made the Duchess of Cambridge cry, saying the opposite had happened.
The Duchess of Sussex said she was reduced to tears during an argument over bridesmaid dresses before her wedding to Harry.
