Prince William feels like he 'can't help Prince Harry anymore' after he stood by him through years of 'bad behaviour', a royal expert has claimed.

William, 38, has kept in touch with his only sibling, Harry, 36, since he and wife Meghan Markle decided to step down as senior royals earlier in the year, writes the Express.

However, the Duke of Cambridge spent 'years trying to look after him' and now feels like 'there is nothing he can do', according to Dan Wootton.

Speaking to True Royalty TV's Royal Beat, Mr Wootton added: "He did everything he could to protect Harry over many, many years.

"We don't know a lot behind the scenes with some of Harry's bad behaviour.

"William was always there for Harry so I have a lot of sympathy for William with how this has turned out."

Royal expert Katie Nicholl said the brothers will not be close in the same way again.

She revealed Harry has sent Christmas presents to Prince George, Charlotte and Louis in an attempt to heal the rift with William.

Ms Nicholl said: "I don't think they ever will be close in the same way that they were before.

"But I do think there have been nine months since Megxit and relations are better between them.

"I know that they are in touch, that they do talk.

"I know that Harry sent over a load of presents for the Cambridge children.

"They will Zoom, they will chat over the holidays."

Her comments come as royal author Omid Scobie has alleged that Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, could have supported Meghan more when she joined the royals.
