Princess Diana would be “totally heartbroken” at Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud and wanted to ensure they “at least had each other”, a royal expert has claimed.
On July 1, the brothers are set to be reunited in the grounds of Kensington Palace for the unveiling of a statue in tribute to their late mum.
They were pictured chatting after Prince Philip’s funeral in April, but it is unclear how much progress was made during the “peace talks”.
By Harry’s own admission, the brothers have been on “different paths” for several years, and tensions only seem to have increased in the wake of Megxit.
Royal expert Angela Levin believes their relationship is tinged by bitterness and a lack of trust.
She told OK!: “Harry doesn’t like his own privacy being broken, but he seems to be breaking it for his own family.
“It’s nerve-wracking – they are worried about any conversations they have with Harry being relaid or leaked to the press. The royals just can’t trust him right now.”
The statue of Diana was created by acclaimed British artist Ian Rank-Broadley, who also designed the UK coins which feature her majesty the Queen’s profile from 1998 onward.

Harry and William had been working on the project together since 2017.
Angela continued: ”It’s a huge embarrassment that this joyous occasion is clouded by the current situation. I just hope it doesn't take attention away from the extraordinary woman they are celebrating. William and Harry will make separate speeches, which wasn’t always the plan.
”It will be quite a stressful day for the Royal Family as they never know what Harry is going to say next.
“It would have almost been easier if he didn’t come, but it’s Harry’s mother as much as she was William’s so it’s important that he is there.”
Angela believes the brothers’ late mum would be devastated to witness their feud.
She continued: “Diana would be totally heartbroken. It was so important to her that her boys had a good relationship. They had such a unique life and so she wanted to ensure they’d at least have each other.
“If Diana were here now, she’d give Harry a telling off for breaking away, and she’d tell him to be there for William as he gears up to be King.”

Journalist Angela got to know the ‘real’ Harry while attending many official royal engagements during 2017 and 2018, gaining exclusive access to him at Kensington Palace for a one-off chat.
In 2018 she published a book, Harry: Conversations with the Prince which explores what Harry is really like, both on and off royal duty.
She added: “I can’t understand why he’s so unhappy. He got the freedom and financial independence that he desired, he married the woman he loves, he has [two] child[ren]… and lives in a house with 16 bathrooms."
