The Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William and "delighted" with the news of the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter, Buckingham Palace said.

After the arrival of Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, senior members of the Royal Family came together to send their best wishes to the tiny tot.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton have also been informed and are delighted for Meghan and Harry.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson also sent his wishes to the Sussexes tonight, writing: "Many congratulations to The Duke & Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their daughter."

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed Lilibet 'Lili' Diana into the world on Friday with the new arrival weighing a healthy 7lb 11oz.

Both mother and child are healthy and well at the hospital in California, the couple said in a statement.

The new arrival's name Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, was a sweet nod to Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth and his late mother, Princess Diana.

The couple's statement reads: "On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.

"She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.

"Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

The younger sister of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is eighth in line for the throne despite her parents renouncing their titles during 'Megxit' last year, according to MailOnline.

The tot, who has been lovingly named to honour her great-grandmother the Queen and late grandmother, Diana the Princess of Wales is placed behind her brother, who is seventh.

But the youngster has over-taken Prince Andrew, the Duke of York who has dropped to ninth place after her birth.
