The Royal Family needs to figure out Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “agenda” following the Oprah chat, a royal commentator claims.
This means they can then come “fighting back” and repair some of the damage caused by it, according to Richard Fitzwilliams.
The monarchy was plunged into crisis after the explosive interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex aired earlier this month.
Bombshell claims made by the couple included racism allegations and accusations Meghan’s mental health struggles were ignored.
Buckingham Palace eventually issued a statement on behalf of the Queen, saying the issues raised were “concerning” and would be dealt with by the family “privately”.
Mr Fitzwilliams told the Daily Star: “You need, after something as dramatic as that, some sort of group closure.
“How is that going to be achieved?”
He said the royals are in “completely unchartered waters” and don’t appear to be “on the same wavelength” as the couple.
Prince Harry has spoken to his brother Prince William and dad Prince Charles in the wake of the interview, according to Meghan’s friend Gayle King.

But she claimed the talks were unproductive.
Mr Fitzwilliams said it shows there doesn’t seem to be much being kept “private at the moment”.
He added: “But a family matter handled privately is the only way you can rebuild trust. That’s essential for any healing process.”
The interview was “very difficult for the Royal Family” and has done “enormous damage in the wider world”, he claimed.
He continued: “In any case, they had an agenda.
“What’s their real agenda? This has caused huge damage. What is it the Sussexes really want and are really after?
“Until we know that, you aren’t building up trust if you let a friend talk about sensitive matters on TV.”
He added: “The royals have a habit of fighting back. They have tended to adapt over the years.
“I am sure they will come back in some form. But you must know the route you are going. The only route is of some healing.
“But how can you heal rifts when you are unaware what it is the Sussexes are after? It’s going to be very challenging.”
