An “end-of-the-line psychopath” was caught having a sex act performed on him by a nun “under his satanic spell” while serving a triple life sentence.

John Cribb was locked up for the triple kidnap and murder of Valda Connell, 39, and her children Sally, 10, and Damien 4 on August 11, 1978.

The frequent drug user took them from their Baulkham Hills home, in the north-west of Sydney, Australia, and drove them to Ellands in the mid-north coast of the country where he raped Valda in front of the children and then stabbed them all to death.

While in jail, Cribb would go on to befriend a nun and the two would later be caught in the heat of the moment.

In his 2017 book Dancing with Demons, Forensic psychologist Tim Watson-Munro described the incident as he covered some of the most terrifying killers in Australia.

Of these, he said Cribb was as bad as they came: “He was universally loathed by the crooks and the screws,” adding, “His crimes breached all the codes. It was a real-life horror story.”

He continued: “When I worked at Parramatta Gaol, I was surrounded by end-of-the-line psychopaths.

“Johnny Cribb was one of them.

“Convicted of three counts of murder, three counts of kidnapping, as well as false imprisonment and a raft of other serious crimes, his tale of evil still chills my spine.

“He was kept in solitary confinement as the authorities recognised that he would last mere minutes if he was released into the mainstream prison community.”

Here he was befriended by the nun, who Watson-Munro said had fallen under the spell of Cribb.

In a letter to Cribb, she said she would perform the act in a scheduled visit “until your eyes popped out”.

Watson-Munro said: “As a final demonstration of the power of evil, Cribb was befriended by a nun.

“She had felt sorry for him and with the liberal exchange of letters allowed at the time, she fell under his satanic spell.”

Officers burst into the room when the act was taking place.

Watson-Munro added: “Cribb was banned from future contact visits and God only knows what happened to the nun”.
