Steele Street will be closed in both directions under Interstate 70 beginning at 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for viaduct demolition, according to a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The closure will be the final closure of the Central 70 Project requiring hotel vouchers for nearby residents, the news release said.
Demolition of I-70 between Brighton and Colorado boulevards started on May 22 and is now half complete, CDOT said.
The Central 70 project is widening I-70 for nearly 10 miles between Interstate 25 and Chambers Road in Aurora. A tolled express lane will be added in each direction, with a second toll lane possible in a future project.
