A bargain-loving blogger who bought a house on her own has shared her money-saving tips for the year ahead.
Aimee Wilkinson, 35, plans to save £6,000 this year to fund a renovation of her 'dream home' in Leeds, according to LeedsLive.
She plans to cover the entire cost of the refurb by selling items, cutting spending and making savings on her bills while aiming for maximum value on every item she buys in 2022.
Aimee has already begun extensive research into how she can look after the pounds and pennies in everyday life, and is looking at what advantages being a homeowner can now get her.
One of the areas she's made a start on is her household bills, with comparing providers being an easy way to cut down on spend.
The marketing professional recently switched to Plusnet’s £21.99 fibre broadband, saving her £108 a year compared with her previous supplier.
She told LeedsLive: “Saving £9 a month might not seem like a lot to some people, but that adds up to over £100 a year. If someone added that on to your bills you’d notice.
“But value to me means small changes that add up. It’s also about getting value from what you pay for. As well as my day job I also run a fashion blog, so having reliable broadband isn’t a choice for me – it’s a necessity."
Aimee has also listened to tips from family and friends on how to save cash, which she says has given her the confidence to seek out big bargains.
She added that her dad had brought her up to understand the value of money, and told her how to do the best research to make sure she's getting a good deal.
Selling items she doesn’t need or use any more, cancelling unnecessary subscriptions and making lists of upcoming purchases are also important parts of her money saving regime.
