A mostly unknown and low-key pair of royals are poised to become more "high profile" when Charles takes over as King, according to a royal expert.
Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester and his wife, Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester were described as "obscure royals" when it was announced they would appear on Buckingham Palace balcony during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
But Craig Prescott, a constitutional lawyer, suggested that the Duke could be among the royals which will garner a higher profile under Prince Charles’ reign.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Mr Prescott said: "There might well be a bit more attention on what other royals — like the Duke of Gloucester who we don't see as much or the Wessexes — are doing because some of it will be a bit more high profile, that once upon a time Prince Harry would have done or Prince William might have done.
“So as the monarchy gets smaller, and these things filter through the different members of the Royal Family, they might end up doing more high profile stuff.”
The expert went on to highlight the rare scene of the Duke of Gloucester joining forces with Prince William to commemorate Anzac Day last month.
"You don’t see William and the Duke of Gloucester together very often," he said.

The royal trained as an architect before taking on royal duties and is also the patron of many charities and organisations.
