Police and paramedics sealed off a Bournemouth hotel on Wednesday morning after a dead woman was discovered inside.
A spokesman for Dorset Police confirmed officers were called at 8.01am to reports "that a woman had been found deceased at the Travelodge in Christchurch Road in Bournemouth".
Local media reports as many as 10 police cars and two ambulances at the scene early this morning.
The spokesman added: "Officers are currently at the scene carrying out enquiries to establish the cause of death. A man has been detained in connection with the incident and is assisting officers with their investigation.
"A cordon has been put in place and hotel guests are being asked to remain at the location while enquiries are carried out.
"Enquiries are also ongoing to confirm the woman’s identify and inform her next of kin.
"Further information will be released when it is available."
A witness reportedly staying at the hotel as a guest has told the Bournemouth Echo that police officers were stationed on every floor of the hotel in the wake of the horror incident.
Both the hotel's car parks have also been sealed off this morning by officers investigating.
