Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told EU foreign ministers this week that his country’s victory depends on European cooperation.

The war has dragged on now for over a year and appears to be at a stalemate, with Ukraine making marginal gains in the north and east of the country and Russia holding forth.

Initially hesitant, Europe has thrown its weight behind Ukraine and provided aid in all forms, with Russia regularly warning that further support would be viewed as a declaration of war by the West.

Russian military analysts and government mouthpieces have for the duration of the war explored various ways in which Russia might go about challenging its Western foes, including initiating World War 3.

The social media channel Telegram is filled with pro-Russia channels that share news and updates on the country’s military and efforts in Ukraine.

Tells you everything about the Russian imperial imagination.”

The oddest thing is that the map wasn’t the first time Russia had expressed an affinity for Wales.

Just days before, Russian TV propagandist Vladimir Solovyov ran through a simulation missile strike that could reach the UK but must not harm Wales.

“Listen Brits, wake up, you showed the whole world that you are arrogant, illiterate and can’t do anything but steal,” he told the state-owned Rossiya1 news channel.

After such a strike, he said, “quiet” Wales would become independent of England.

He also said Scotland would be free to become independent, and when asked by guest Professor Andrei Sidorov, “So the Union Jack will be thrown away?” he replied: “The Union Jack will be over.”
