This weekend is expected to be a chilly one for millions of Brits as daytime temperatures in some parts of the country could dip below freezing.

Although weather forecasters expect Saturday (November 11) to be a sunny one for most, minimum temperature predictions show that sunshine will likely not translate into warmth.

Advanced weather modelling maps from WX Charts show large swathes of Scotland and the north of England could be waking up to 0C on Saturday. Most of the rest of the country is facing a nippy 3C morning.

The Met Office expects the Saturday sunshine to turn "increasingly hazy with cloud thickening from the west" as the day progresses. That said, it is expected to remain dry for most.

For Sunday (November 12) WX Charts' minimum temperature data shows a similar story. In the far north of Scotland, -1C is possible around midday. The north of England is again facing 0C, although further south conditions are expected to be one or two notches warmer than they are on Saturday.

The Met Office said: "A chilly start to Sunday with fog for some. This clearing with outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards later. Remaining unsettled on Monday and Tuesday with rain followed by blustery showers."

As for next week, further showers and prolonged spells of rain are expected for most of the country. The Met Office forecast reads: "Rainfall totals will tend to be higher across western areas of the UK, especially coasts and hills, although in general nothing exceptional for this time of year.

"Meanwhile parts of the far north, in particular the Northern Isles will likely see less rainfall than elsewhere. In association with the rain it will often be windy, especially around coasts in the west or southwest. Temperatures for a time at least becoming milder than average, before trending closer to average by the end of the period."

Luckily, temperatures look set to be warmer across the board on Monday (November 13).
