Gaza: Hamas release video of hostages being freed

A senior Sky News editor is facing widespread criticism after he claimed Israeli hostages had been treated “reasonably” by Hamas.

Dominic Waghorn, the broadcaster’s International Affairs Editor took to Twitter/X early this morning, to claim comparisons between Hamas and ISIS had been “undermined” after the Gaza terrorist group’s leader told hostages they “would not be harmed” while in captivity.

Mr Waghorn went on to say the terrified Israeli victims had been “held in reasonable conditions, reportedly, though those held above ground lived with the fear of being killed in Israel’s bombardment”.

However hostages have spoken of enduring “hell” in Gaza – being given barely any food and facing fears of execution.

This afternoon a Jewish MP took it into his own hands to contact the Sky Journalist directly, accusing him of “absolutely sick tweets”, which “fawned” over the Hamas terrorist leadership.

In a furious email to the senior editor, Andrew Percy MP slammed him and said his posts had “reminded me how happy I am not to be on the antisemitic cesspit that is Twitter”.

Mr Percy, the Conservative MP for Brigg and Goole in Yorkshire, described the claims of hostages being treated well by Hamas as “absolutely astounding”, and rebuked each claim from the International Affairs Editor.

“These are people who were kidnapped from their own homes with force having watched, in some cases, members of their families or communities be murdered or assaulted by Hamas.

“Moreover, they were denied access to essential medicines they required, no independent body was allowed access to them to check on their care, and the best you can manage is to say that the real risk to them was from Israeli bombs.

“Bombs which by the way are only required due to the depravity of Hamas and their Isis-like behaviour which you infer Israel is wrong to claim.”
