Pro-Palestine march sets off from Hyde Park on Armistice Day
Pro-Palestine protesters are set to take to the streets outside Parliament this week.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign has announced plans for the latest demonstration demanding a ceasefire in the Israe-Hamas conflict at 5pm this Wednesday.
The group is one of the organisers of the marches which have taken place in London on the last five Saturdays.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the PSC said: “Emergency rally for Palestine. On Wednesday MPs will vote on whether to call for a ceasefire in Palestine!
“Join us at 5pm at Parliament on Wednesday 15 November to demand MPs vote for a ceasefire now.”
The King’s Speech debate comes to an end on Wednesday. It is at this point that votes usually take place.
Both the SNP and Labour backbenchers have tabled amendments seeking an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
But it is up to Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle to choose which amendments are put to a vote.
It comes after around 300,000 protesters took part in a controversial pro-Palestine march on Remembrance Day.
But there were ugly scenes as far-right counter-protesters also turned out.
Rishi Sunak could give police greater powers to tackle protests following the Armistice Day clashes.
The Prime Minister is reportedly looking to tighten the laws to make it easier to ban marches.
