Brit bloke stuck in empty airport in 40C heat as Ryanair landed at wrong place

A Ryanair passenger was left angry and baffled after being stranded by the airline in an empty airport in sweltering heat.

Scottish bloke Greg, who only gave his first name to Edinburgh Live, was dumped in a random airport in Adagir, Morocco – 150 miles away from where he was supposed to be in Marrakesh.

The flight path was changed last minute, with bewildered passengers forced to wait several hours for a bus to their actual destination, without water and in 40c heat.

He said: “At Agadir airport, we were the only plane on the runway, there was no flights scheduled, so limited staff at the airport and no other travellers, and there was no communication or representatives from Ryanair present after leaving the plane.

“The cabin crew were not interested in helping on the plane, and shunned any attempts to get information.

“It was 40c, and a nearly 200 people are waiting outside an airport three hours from their destination, yet no one from Ryanair was there to communicate, provide update or even provide water.

“It is a disgrace that Ryanair gave no support and just abandoned their customers.”

Greg and a few other passengers ended up getting a taxi to Marrakesh, which was a three-hour journey costing an eye-watering £120, after just one of four buses arrived to collect the angry group.

The airline confirmed it was forced to change route because of a thunderstorm in Marrakesh.

A spokesman added: “This flight from Edinburgh to Marrakesh (Aug 23) diverted to Agadir due to thunderstorms at Marrakesh Airport.

“The aircraft landed safely, and Ryanair organised multiple coaches to transport passengers to Marrakesh however, some passengers opted to make their own way to Marrakesh.

"Ryanair sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused due to this thunderstorm at Marrakesh Airport that was beyond Ryanair’s control."
