Meghan Markle memoir rumours giving Prince William a headache, expert claims

Prince William has been left with a "headache" following rumours Meghan Markle is writing her debut memoir, according to a royal expert.

Speculation is mounting that the Duchess of Sussex is looking to pen her very own tell-all book following the release of Prince Harry's, Spare, earlier this year. Royal author Tom Bower said last month: "My view is that she is writing her memoirs and it will be a huge money-spinner."

It is thought the book, whenever it eventually hits shelves, will focus on Meghan's stint in the Firm from 2018 until 2020, when she and Harry stepped down from official duties and relocated to the US. Another royal author, Angela Levin, said the release would likely contain "moans and groans about how badly she was treated as a royal".

Unsurprisingly, it sounds like the Royal Family aren't pleased about the prospect. Royal expert Duncan Larcombe said the news has hit Prince William particularly hard, with the Prince of Wales now concerned he can't even contact his younger brother for fear of their conversation being made public.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "William’s real headache is that he can’t get in touch with his brother without risking the contents of any conversation they have being made public. It is a real frustration for him and it totally ties him up.

"It’s one thing having a row with your sibling, it’s not uncommon in any family, but in this particular context, it is a constant betrayal. William can't make that first move without Harry betraying him and breaking his confidence."

The feud between Princes William and Harry has been escalating for years and began long before the Duke of Sussex published his memoir. The controversial book contains a number of accusations that paint the future king in a rather unflattering light, including that he had once pushed his brother to the floor after an altercation about Meghan turned aggressive.

"It all happened so fast. So very fast," the book said. "He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me."

The prince claimed William had called Meghan "difficult", "rude" and "abrasive" as the argument broke out, with many of the pair's quarrels reportedly focusing on the ex-Suits star. The Duke added the comments echoed "the press narrative" at the time.

This claim has reportedly left a sour taste in William and wife Kate Middleton's mouths. Tom Quinn, author of Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, said the Prince and Princess of Wales' staff members said the pair were still furious about the accusation, the Daily Star previously reported.

"Privately there's a lot more anger than there is publicly, especially about the accusation there that William physically assaulted Harry. Apparently, they're furious about that," Quinn previously told the Daily Express US.

"William is really angry about the whole idea that these difficulties should be aired in public."
