A skydiver tragically died after a horror crash landing saw him “bounce” off the ground like a “basketball”.

The victim has now been identified as Frederick Morello. The 69-year-old was discovered dead by the Florida, US homeowner on Saturday (October 7).

Speaking to FOX35, homeowner James Sconiers said: “He hit the ground. Bounced off the driveway into their grass. Almost like a basketball that's just how hard he hit the ground like someone bounced him up. It's hard."

Mr Morello, of Ormond Beach, is believed to be an experienced skydiver. The lawyer had posted dozens of pictures of him fearlessly leaping from planes.

But on Saturday at around 12.25pm he was seen by Mr Sconiers in the reflection of the back car window while it was parked in the driveway of his home. When he witnessed Mr Morello hit the floor.

Mr Sconiers repeatedly asked him if he was okay but he was non-responsive. Tragically the parachuter died on the pavement, wearing his neon yellow gear.

Speaking to WKMG, Sconier added: “I'm so heartbroken for the family. And for those he jumped with that saw it from up there.

“I hurt for them. Look at the video and look at what happened. Why did he fall so hard if all the safety mechanisms in place? Something tells me there's a problem there.”

According to witness reports, the skydiver had his parachute fully deployed but landed at a high speed and crashed to his death. Police revealed the man was found just about a block away from the Arthur Dunn Airpark.

The airpark is home to the Skydive Space Center. It is unclear if the man was skydiving by himself or if he was with others.
