Israeli official calls for doomsday nuclear strike to shake Middle East

An Israeli lawmaker has called for a nuclear strike in the Gaza Strip after Hamas launched a massive terrorist attack over the weekend.

Revital “Tally” Gotliv, a member of the right-wing Likud party in Israel’s Parliament the Knesset, has called on social media for Gaza to be wiped off the map.

Israel has the most formidable military in the Middle East and is widely thought to be a nuclear power possessing as many as 400 nuclear weapons. Israel’s Government does not openly comment on its nuclear program but several politicians have alluded to the weapons in the past.

Since Saturday, when Hamas launched a ruthless attack that killed at least 1,200 Israelis including women and children, Israel has declared war on the terrorist group and promised widespread destruction in Gaza. Preparations for a ground invasion appear to be underway.

In one message posted to Twitter in Hebrew, Gotliv said: “Jericho Missile! Jericho Missile! Strategic alert. Before considering the introduction of forces. Doomsday weapon! This is my opinion. May God preserve all our strength.”

Jericho missiles are a family of ballistic missiles developed by Israel in the 1960s. Gotliv urged the IDF to “shell Gaza mercilessly!”

She added: “Only an explosion that shakes the Middle East will restore this country’s dignity, strength and security. I urge you to do everything and use Doomsday weapons fearlessly against our enemies.

She said destroying neighbourhoods in the Gaza Strip would not be enough adding the Israeli Government must “crush” the enclave home to 2.2 million people.

Following the attack by Hamas, Israel’s Armed Forces have launched hundreds of airstrikes dropping entire apartment blocks the IDF says were linked to Hamas.

Now, around 300,000 Israeli reservists have massed at the Gaza border along with artillery, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles in what appears to be preparation for a ground offensive.

Israel’s Defense Minister has ordered a “complete siege” of Gaza blocking food shipments, water and fuel from entering the area governed by Hamas.

There have been reports that Gaza’s only domestic power station is on the brink of running out of fuel which would leave Gaza in darkness.

While at least 1,200 on the Israeli side have been confirmed dead, Palestinian authorities say more than 1,050 have been killed in Gaza. Dozens of hostages, including foreigners, have been taken by Hamas.
